Kil/Cool U13 Share Spoils

27/09/2014: Kildysart/Coolmeen remain unbeaten in their second match in this years West Clare A championship having drawn with Cooraclare today 2-9 a piece. The match got off to a blistering start and produced 3 goals in the first 5 minutes. Dylan Power was first on the board for Kildysart/Coolmeen with a point, followed quickly by a goal from David Murphy. Cooraclare struck then and sent one to the net. In the following minute Dylan Power did the business with a lovely ball in from Emmet McMahon to put the amalgamation in front 2-1 to 1-0 with only 5 minutes on the clock. Emmet McMahon scored an unlikely point when his long range free fell short and bounced over the bar. Another point from Emmet McMahon and 2 more from Cooraclare had Kildysart/Coolmeen ahead 2-3 to 1-2 at the 10 minute mark. JJ Carrig preserved the lead when he made a goal line save at the 14th minute. This was followed by a point each from Dylan Power and Emmet McMahon and another from Cooraclare had Kil/Cool up 2-5 to 1-2.  Darren Crehan was denied twice when he made a long run and finished with a shot on goal. Darren collected the rebound and had another go but it too was saved. Cooraclare responded with 1-1 unanswered to trail at the break 2-5 to 2-3. 

The sides alternated scores in the first period of the restart with the amalgamation scores coming from Dylan Power, Darren Crehan and Conor Hassett to extend the lead 2-8 to 2-5.  However, Cooraclare scored an unanswered 3 points in a two minute spree to draw level. Emmet scored the last point for Kildysart/Coolmeen with 5 minutes remaining. Cooraclare tried to raid the net but were denied by Ronan Murphy with 3 minutes to go.  They did however manage a point to level the match. Dylan Power took a heavy knock and the match was halted for a few minutes. On resumption of the match the ref blew the full time whistle which is a fair reflection of play on the day. Final score 2-9 to 2-9. 

Kildysart/Coolmeen Win Over Clondegad in West Clare Opener

18/09/2014:  Kildysart/Coolmeen had a great start to their campaign with a home opener, winning 3-8 to 2-7 over their near neighbours. Clondegad had a good start and went ahead 1-1 to a point (Dylan Power) early on but were to remain scoreless until 3 minutes before the half.  Kildysart/Coolmeen responded to the goal with a steady flow of points from Barry McMahon, JJ  Carrig, Dylan Power x2, and Emmet McMahon to lead by 2. Clondegad converted a free and then Dylan Power and Emmet McMahon goaled to smash the game wide open. Emmet McMahon's free left the sides Kildysart/Coolmeen 2-7, Clondegad 1-2 at the break.  

Kildysart/Coolmeen were stunned when Clondegad notched up 1-3 in the opening 3 minutes of the restart to see Clondegad trail by only 2.  A point from Dylan Power was cancelled by Clondegad's reply, but Dylan promptly responded with 1-1 to put the match out of reach. Another point from Clondegad and one from Emmet McMahon finished the match. Kildysart/Coolmeen 3-9, Clondegad 2-7.
