21/04/2013:  Kildysart Ladies U12 team finished off their league campaign with a great performance against Doora Barefield but lost by literally 2 kicks of the ball, Kildysart 1-1 and Doora Barefield 2-2. The Kildysart girls had a winning approach and gave it everything thing they had.  Rachel Conway made a mighty job of defending the goal and was helped by impressive back line of Megan Cooney, Chloe Sheehan and Eve Garry.  There was a swirling breeze across the pitch which made it difficult for both sides to move the ball.  The solid half back line of Sarah Casey, Megan Sheehan and Sinéad Kelly-who ran forward when needed, kept the ball up the pitch.  Doora was first on the scoreboard with a point but Kildysart responded with a well placed goal by Amy Murphy, who received a good pass in from Roisin Donnellan. Forwards Jacinta Casey and new-comer Caitlin Casey also ensured the ball stayed in the Doora half of the pitch.  The Parish scored another 1-1 to lead at the break 2-1 to 1 goal.

The two mid fielders Ruth Finucane and Captain Katie Donnellan have different styles but worked well as a team. Katie was doggedly determined to win ball mid field which Ruth would drive long up to the forwards.  Half time subs Zoe Nagle and Rachel O'Sullivan also made an impact when they came on.  The mid field position was boosted with fresh legs when Rachel Conway and Ruth swapped during the second half.  Super-sub Eabha Garry got right stuck into the action when she came on as well.  Both teams scored just 1 point a piece in the second half, with Kildysart's point coming from Megan Sheehan.

Thanks to our loyal supporters for your energy and encouragement on the pitch.  It means a lot to the team.

The girls play impressive football but more than that they bring great heart and spirit into every match that will stand to them in the future.  The Championship is starting in a few weeks and the girls will be playing against teams from their own division so watch this space cause Kildysart Can Do It!
