03/08/2013:  Kildysart travelled to Doonbeg for the championship opener and came back empty ended when they met a strong Miltown team.  Having been relegated from Senior football in 2012, Miltown were determined to re-gain their position and scored a goal in the opening minutes.  Niall Ginnane got the only score of the half for Kildysart when he finished off a long solo run by Shane McNelis at the 7th minute.  Both teams struggled to keep possession of the ball and there was no score for the next 15 minutes.  Miltown then re-grouped and scored 3 unanswered points to lead at the break 1-3 to 1 point.

Ger Kelly scored the first of his 4 points in the second half shortly after the interval but Miltown scored 5 in a row to see Kildysart trailing 1-8 to 2 points heading last quarter.  Kildysart then scored 4 unanswered points and were helped by an excellent goal save by Liam Griffin to stay alive. The sides swapped points once more before the final whistle blew.  Final score Miltown 1-9, Kildysart 6 points.
